In the attention economy, positioning oneself can be tricky if you don’t want your face and body to be part of the package for consumption.
“Why would I want my aging face and disabled body to be part of the package?” — is what I believed after being so visible in my plump-cheeked 20s.
What if what I want is not attention, but freedom? What about seeking freedom is seen as seeking attention, exactly?
Instead of using my likeness and physical being for work, I hid behind words and behind the camera, instead of just continuing to be myself wherever creating. Hiding her is hiding the innate connection between commanding attention and that attention commanding an income. I told myself a lie that physical or intellectual labor is more stable and worthy than being my whole, free self online.
Platforms like Instagram have propagated the harmful messaging that you see resonating above, so I’m seeking refuge in more committed audiences here, on Twitch, and elsewhere.
I’m intentionally creating space to be free, not just to labor, so once again, thanks for being here!
BREAKING NEWS: I Got Laid (Off) On Vacation 😎
It was pretty ironic to get the news while in Negril, Jamaica, where I have often visited to heal from bad bosses, bad jobs, and other BS over the years.
While I loved so many parts of my job, it was time to move on, so I’m grateful to have been on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world to deal with these twists and turns, twists and turns as Drake and Popcaan say. I’m grateful to have been with my biggest fan and supporter, my boyf Andy 🥰.

When you have frustrating health problems like I do, it complicates things(understatement of the decade and its only 2023). I’ve been a fan of Runi’s Play Primer with 500mg CBD and adaptogenics — very on par with other cannabis suppository or lube experiences but with a more focused purpose, and texture .😇
Collagen - What’s the latest?
Some research has suggested there are benefits to supplements. A 2021 meta-analysis, or a review of existing research, on collagen supplements and skin aging published in the International Journal of Dermatology concluded that collagen supplements can improve skin hydration, elasticity and wrinkles.
Do you do collagen? While this WSJ article teeter totters between tagging collagen supplements as useful or not, like some of the docs and studies in the piece, I have always found visible results when I’m consistent with collagen treatments.
One expert in the story chalks the hair and skin benefits people like me report to additional protein consumed via the collagen, which could be true as I was vegetarian and did not supplement collagen for many years.
Another attributes this to an overall more careful approach to skincare among supplement users, like antioxidants, retinol use, consumption of leafy greens and hydration consistency, also things I up when remembering to supplement. ~*selfcare*~
Does the collagen do it alone? Probably not! Does my hair and nails and skin just look generally more quality when I supplement collagen? You bet!
Decide for yourself, but for me a tub lasts 6-8 weeks if I remember every other day to take a shot with orange or grapefruit juice, or add to a smoothie in my BlendJet (yes I was influenced there too), I look more snatched overall. 🤷♀️

I AM DEAD. According to this study, bi’s (like myself) use more cannabis than strictly gay or straight folks. L O L. I’m sure there’s so much to uncover, but it posits a theory that a lack of acceptance in both groups can fuel issues that lead to Cannabis Use Disorder (aka habitual but non chemical addiction to cannabis) and I have to agree as a ne’er do well bi person in a binary world. 💋
Ever in search of deeper conversations about assimilation, immigration, and the Sicilian diasporas, White Lotus season 2 kicked off a unique convo over at Radici Sicilane. The crew hosted an inquisitive chat peering into how for the migrated masses of the Mezzogiorno, whiteness was a choice with consequences all around. Folks like the DeGrasso family pay a price of loneliness and cultural isolation to take up the mantle of “American”, but they also exact and extract when aligned with whiteness. Fascinating stuff, especially if you have experienced what it’s like to stick out in a WASP environment and faced how conditional and fraught whiteness itself is. Never forget that!
Different swipes for different folks, eh? Do you prefer algorithmic selection of content, or are you just following friends? Many who shy away from TikTok but end up viewing the content on other platforms don’t realize that they’re letting the media (and their friends) curate TikToks for them, vs creating their own relationship to the suggestive selection of TikTok itself. It’s all a matter of preference! If you want your content curated by people you know, stick to the Meta-verse ecosystem of platforms, but if you want to get weird, you do need to let the machine take over a little!
