It was tough to write anything at all this week, I won’t lie 😈

There’s a certain discouraging air to the climate right now, a potent blend of lay off culture, cannabis’ typical chaos and misery, and all combined with a protracted backlash against the “progress” made by recent social justice movements. I use quotations because the only progress many noted was voices being heard, briefly, before everyone went back to business as usual. 🫠

DEI folks being fired, social equity sued into failure in NY, healthcare for birthing people on the rocks, queer and trans rights being eroded to nothing, all while our very own attempted dictator is trying to spin a perp walk into a coup — it adds up to a rough news cycle. 😵‍💫

When I started writing here I said this wasn’t a rant space, howeva—it is my space, and sometimes there will be rants, but it never ends there!! While you won’t find false positivity in my online spaces, I always look for joy where possible, and hope you do the same. 🫡

Alpine Sunrise 💸

Always big buds in the jar, with deliciously on-strain effects and fun terpenes, it’s no secret I enjoy A Golden State, when in the Golden State. Trying their new sativa, Alpine Sunrise 🌿meant a deeply fragrant experience where so many store-bought sativas can fall flat. Notes of jack, candy, and sweet earthiness give this an appeal that is blessedly repeatable via AGS’s growing methods.

When I try their indica inflection, Night Sky, from one one month to the next, its always got the punch I’m looking for, and doesn’t taste wildly different like some strains can from one brand or batch to the next. Here’s hoping my new favorite afternoon pick-me-up flavor will follow suit because it’s so yummy!

Having grown up around some closed minded folks (and later scenes), I’m pretty sensitive to this topic in general. People let the silliest things dictate what music they listen to, putting up nonsensical boundaries around entire eras, genres, and especially around things that are too queer or too outside the white gaze. In the past I’ve been guilty of hitting nope on things before their crescendo, but have since stopped in favor of being open to experiencing new music from everywhere in the world, and it’s been bringing joy, happiness, and connection into my life.

According to this study, it also keeps the brain working in peak form, creating new pathways and challenging deep treads we rely on. Listen to new music for your health! You don’t have to like all of it.💋

We have so much work to do to unravel colonialism in our world—and the Met and other museums reckoning with their relationship to both colonialism past and capitalism (which fuels current colonialism) seems like a giant, ancient apparatus has finally started to awaken. Removing agency from cultures and stealing their artifacts is some real low down shit, I’ll probably stop participating in this activity until these spaces are equitable top-down and not pumped full of pharma payola and pilfered priceless pieces.⚡️
